Clean energy technologies represent a promising solution to the global warming challenge. Many clean energy technologies, however, depend on some rare materials and concerns have been raised recently. This talk explores modeling techniques that can be used to understand how materials scarcity and competition from alternative uses affects the potential for widespread deployment of renewable electricity generation in the long run, in light of related technology and policy uncertainties. Indium is taken as the example and some observations from computable partial equilibrium model and system dynamics simulation are discussed.

主講人簡介：

趙浮副教授現任職于普渡大學機械工程學院環境與生態工程系，擔任美國機械工程師協會工程設計分會制造設計與生命周期技術委員會副主席，其研究方向為可持續設計與制造，尤其是概念設計、制造過程表征、生產計劃、能源有效規劃、以及產品生命末期管理、生命周期發展分析法在可持續性評估方面的應用以及再生能源系統的相關政策規劃等領域的研究。趙浮教授已在相關領域期刊和會議發表了100多篇文章，并獲得了第43屆SME North American Manufacturing Research Conference的優秀論文獎，其研究得到了美國國家科學基金會、美國能源部、美國環境保護署和工業界的支持。
