主題:Universities’ Role in Technology Commercialization (大學在技術商業化中的作用) Universities play a critical role in the economic development ecosystem. In the US, about two-thirds of per capita economic growth comes from technological innovations. The commercialization of innovations through licensing of university technology adds billions of dollars to the US economy every year. Yet, very little research ever gets commercialized into the marketplace. To get just one signed license agreement, it typically takes $10 million in research expenditures. It takes hundreds of millions of dollars in research expenditures to produce even a handful of university start-up companies. This presentation looks at some of the barriers to commercializing university technology and suggests some best practices to increase the success rate of economic development and wealth creation.
